Waverley Women’s Health – Direct Access Hysteroscopy
We are pleased to offer a Direct Access Hysteroscopy service, designed to make your care faster and more convenient. With this service, you do not need to attend a separate appointment before your procedure—saving you time and reducing delays.
What is hysteroscopy?
A hysteroscopy is a simple procedure that allows a specialist to examine the inside of your uterus (womb) using a thin, lighted instrument called a hysteroscope. The device is gently passed through the vagina and cervix, so there are no cuts or incisions involved.
Hysteroscopy is commonly used to investigate and treat symptoms such as abnormal bleeding, postmenopausal bleeding, or to check the uterus before IVF. It can also help detect polyps, fibroids, or other abnormalities, and allows for procedures such as removing retained tissue or inserting an IUD under general anaesthetic.
This minimally invasive procedure is typically done as a day procedure.
What are the benefits of Direct Access Hysteroscopy?
- Your booking will be confirmed within 2 business days
- Save on costs by avoiding extra appointments
- NO out of pocket specialist fees (for patients with eligible private health insurance)
- No unnecessary office visits
- Shorter waiting time
- Faster treatment for bleeding or related issues
- Option for IUD insertion under general anaesthetic (fees may apply)
