Waverley Private Hospital would like to introduce, Dr Ahmed Shaalan a paediatrician. Ahmed has over 18 years of experience in paediatric and neonatal care across both overseas and Australia. He trained in different perinatal centres across Victoria including Monash Children’s Hospital, Royal Women’s Hospital and Royal Children’s Hospital and completed specialist training in neonatal and perinatal medicine and obtained the fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Ahmed has obtained the master’s degree in paediatrics as well as the Ph.D. Degree in Childhood Studies, “Children Health and Nutrition.”
Ahmed is experienced in all aspects of newborn care starting from consultations during pregnancy, attending high risk and low risk deliveries, baby assessment, hospital discharge examination and growth and development assessment for the first 2 years of life.
Additionally, Ahmed has been a Certified Lactation Consultant (International Board-Certified Lactation consultant IBCLC, 2008 to 2018), and has been providing his best efforts to support and facilitate successful breast feeding. He understands that the golden time for both the baby and the parents is the first few days after birth. His primary goal is to establish the ideal bonding between the baby and the family.
