Waverley Private Hospital would like to introduce Dr Christopher Chan who graduated at Monash University and trained in Ophthalmology at the Sydney Eye Hospital followed by a fellowship at Monash Medical Centre. He is trained in all areas of general Ophthalmology and has special interests in glaucoma management, cataract surgery and laser refractive surgery. He had research in mitochondrial eye disease at Prof. E. Byrne’s laboratory at St. Vincent’s Hospital and had work visits to laboratories at Emory University and University of Texas, USA.
Dr Chris Chan has been actively involved with advanced technology multifocal and extended depth of focus intra-ocular lenses. He was part of the early group of eye surgeons that implanted accommodating intra-ocular lens in Australia. More recently, he was involved in a nationwide clinical trial of the new generation small aperture intra-ocular lens in Australia and New Zealand.
Dr Chan is involved in supervising Ophthalmology registrars’ operations. He is a consultant at Western Health and past consultant at Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital and Southern Health.
