A/Prof Sujie Chandran is an experienced general gastroenterologist and interventional endoscopist who has served the community around Waverley Private Hospital for over a decade. He is deeply committed to colon cancer prevention through high-quality colonoscopy and advanced polyp detection techniques, recognising that excellence in detection is key to reducing colorectal cancer risk. He has worked closely with Waverley Private to modernise its endoscopy services, introducing the latest generation scopes, endoscopy technology, and reporting systems to ensure the highest standard of care for patients.

 

A graduate of Monash University, A/Prof Chandran completed his gastroenterology training at Austin Health, followed by advanced interventional fellowships at Austin Health and St. Michael’s Hospital in Canada. He completed his PhD in endoscopy through the University of Melbourne, supported by grants from the Gastroenterological Society of Australia. An accomplished researcher, he has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and has received multiple awards and scholarships, including the 2023 Royal Australasian College of Physicians Research Establishment Scholarship.

 

He serves as the Victorian Lead for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians National Lecture Series and leads the Endoscopy Fellowship and Complex Tissue Resection Program at Austin Health. At Waverley Private, he performs advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including complex polyp resections and dilatations.

 

Suji is known for his culturally sensitive, empathetic, and patient-centred approach, and for his dedication to training the next generation of endoscopists while delivering cutting-edge care to his community.
