Charles is currently a consultant urological surgeon at Box Hill Hospital and Angliss Hospital in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

He is passionate about minimally invasive surgery in urology. He uses the latests treatment modalities, technologies and surgical techniques to deliver better functional and oncological outcomes to his patients in conjunction with faster recovery and less operative morbidity.

Charles has had extensive training and experience in:

Urodynamics

Gold standard test for evaluation of complex voiding dysfunction

Minimally invasive stone surgery

A small telescope is passed through the water pipe into the kidney collecting system, using a laser the stone is fragmented into dust to allow passage. Stent dwell times kept to a minimum to avoid patient discomfort.

Laparoscopic Partial Nephrectomy

A technically challenging procedure that allows excellent cancer treatment in conjunction with renal function preservation for suitable kidney cancers

Laparoscopic / Robotic Radical Prostatectomy

He performs both pure laparosopic and robot assisted radical prostatectomy. Patient outcomes are similar for both procedures, but the robotic procedure is more costly due to additional hospital fees for robot use.

The cornerstone of Charles medical practice lies in his communication and care of his patients. He will clearly communicate and explain the relevant diagnosis and treatment options, and help the patient choose the best treatment option for his/her personal circumstance. Medicine is not always one size fits all! Dr Han will be present to guide you through every step of the medical journey, from diagnosis, to treatment and to surgery and the post-operative recovery process.
