Mother Baby Unit

The Mother Baby Unit provides specialised support and care to families experiencing postnatal difficulties in the weeks and months after birth.

These difficulties may include:

  • Feeding difficulties
  • Infant sleeping problems
  • Irritable unsettled infants
  • Infants with reflux and colic
  • Maternal exhaustion
  • Adjustment to parenthood

Our units offer individual support and planning to suit your family, during the admission there is also opportunity for education, rest support and group discussions.

Babies and mothers are admitted under the care of an experienced General Practitioner.

Perinatal Mental Health Unit

The Perinatal Mental Health Unit provides specialised care for women with mental health conditions that develop or exacerbate during pregnancy or in the post natal period.

These may include:

  • Mood and Anxiety Disorders
  • Depression
  • Stress and Grief
  • Bipolar disorders
  • Schizophrenia
  • Post-traumatic Stress Disorders
  • Medication Changes

Providing multidisciplinary care, this 6 bed unit has been specifically refurbished to provide a calm and relaxed retreat for families. Admission to the unit is voluntary, with patients actively participating in their recovery. Women are admitted under the care of a psychiatrist and encouraged to have their babies with them during the hospital stay.
